Eucerin AQUAporin Active: Go or No Go?

I sometimes have the power to deceive people, where they think that I have a vigorous skincare regime when actually I am such a boy that I love the sun so much, I’m starting to feel that it’s taking a toll on my skin. I have this bad habit of not putting on moisturizer immediately after cleansing, and also not slapping on sunblock when I go out under the sun, especially when I’m tanning.

Recently, I went to Tioman Island for some summer fun in the sun, and as usual, I never pack my sunblock cause it never exists in my dictionary. And as usual, of course, I would suffer from the consequences a week after I get back home. My skin would start drying up, and no amount of moisturizer would be able to repair that damage done. However, in the recent Eucerin launch, they gave us bottles of the new product and being me, I had the itch to try out new products.

So, I couldn’t show you my face, for I am afraid that I’ll scare my readers sans makeup hahaha but I picked the driest spot on my body to test out the all new Eucerin AQUAporin Active just to see the vast difference before and after.

Eucerin claims that the AQUAporin active range is suitable for sensitive skin, which is perfect cause I have super sensitive skin. The brownie points comes in when they claim that it works as a makeup base  =)

What’s AQUAporin?

According to Wikipedia, it is a type of protein that are embedded in the cell membranes that regulates the flow of water. In short it is like a plumbing system in the skin layer that channels the distribution of water within the cells.

Ok, enough science, let’s see real-life results!

So here is the dry skin area before:

I know it’s unflattering but this is a problem i have from excessive exposure to the sun.

Ok so here, I squeezed a pea-sized dollop of each product onto the skin:

And lathered them one by one onto the skin while rubbing it in a circular motion. Apparently, this is super moisturizing and supposedly to feel like water, unlike any other moisturizers which are oil-based.

See the watery effect on the skin when the eye cream melts? It will dry up on its own and does not leave any residue.

The light cream is a little heavier than the eye cream. However, it still does not leave oily residues and tighten the skin when applied.

Last but not least, I tried on the spf15 + UVA cream. It is heavier than the light cream and definitely thicker in texture. However, it still is not oily and all three does not leave a sticky feeling afterwards, unlike other rich moisturizers.

See the difference?

My skin became less patchy and no more cracks just by using a small amount but very well distributed across my skin. Best part about it? I’d wake up in the morning with lesser oil on my face, cause these oils are produced to moisturize your face in the dry environment (cause I sleep in air-conditioned room). So this basically means I’ve moisturized my face enough before and while I’m sleeping  =)

Plus, in Malaysia, where the weather is hot and humid, this moisturizer still does not feel heavy or sticky on the face. And my makeup stays on the whole day instead of melting away with my oily T-zone.

And since I travel quite a fair bit, and with my dad’s liking of cold, dry winter countries, I doubt this moisturizer will end up in the dustbin like the rest cause I am very particular about moisturizers especially in winter countries. Dry skin cracks and peels, and it’s not just unattractive, but also painful. Knowing that this product is a scientific breakthrough, I can’t wait to try it in a different environment *cross fingers*  =)
