This photo below would probably sum up my life especially last year...
But wait, I was not at KLIA nor was I at the LCCT Terminal =)
Last Monday brought me to KL Sentral to actually check out the KLIA Ekspres and also to check-in, VIP Traveller style...heh, kidding!
And yes, the counter to check-in at the train station is just the same as the one in KLIA itself. Once you’ve checked in your luggage here and get your boarding pass, you can forget about it UNTIL you reach your destination be it NY, Paris, London or Hong Kong.
The best part about the journey is that it starts in the city, so I don’t have to worry about cab, or even bug someone to drive me ALLLLLLL the way to Sepang and it’s easily accessible via any KTM, LRT, or even bus. If you’ve heard about the Tokyo City Terminal, then you’d know what I mean.
MissyCheerio and I chatting while walking towards the check-in counter
- Check-in time: Possibly 2 hours before flight, so that they can operate smoothly with your luggage handling.
- Make sure that you don’t board the train too late. It takes you 28 minutes to reach the KLIA terminal and vice versa.
- Make sure that you have your passport and boarding pass.
Annnndddd you’re good to go.
VERY VERY efficient!
We iz at KLIA woohoo. I noticed that most of the train passengers were mostly foreigners. Locals should make it a point to go on an efficient public transportation like this.
For travellers who are just on transit at KLIA airport, you can take the city excursion provided by the same people too! That way you can maximize your holidays to an extra city within the span of a day ;)
Train trumps cabs, ANYTIME. At least you don’t have to layan uncle taxi yang suka membebel merepek2.

We were told that they now open counters for these Airlines:
- Malaysian Airlines (MH)
- Cathay Pacific (CX)
- Emirates (EK)
- Brunei Airlines (BI)
Here are tips if you’re planning to check-in at the KL Sentral counter:

It'll only cost you RM35 per way.
What a lot of people don’t know is that how efficient the KLIA Ekspres system can be. You just check-in your luggage at the counter and it will be brought to the ‘back lane’ of the building where sorting, configuring and packing will be done in merely 2minutes TOPS!
Looks like a rollercoaster rail...I had to keep myself composed from not jumping onto it! =P
TAGGING BARCODE
STORAGE
Using an electronic code tracker (much like FedEx) you can be assured that your baggage will not get lost and it will reach your airplane once you’re at KLIA.
DOUBLE CHECK
WAIT FOR THE NEXT LUGGAGE
=p
Efficiency level? Not a single luggage bag lost since they started operating in 2002!
The luggages will then be transported down to the train via this funky old-school elevator. Reminds me of the Manhattan apartment’s elevators. Couldn’t resist from posing heh =P
FACT: taking public transport will help reduce your carbon footprint – SAVES MOTHER EARTH!
Oh well, at least it’s a minimal step you can take to help mother nature, and also to reduce KL traffic (we’ll get to that later)

ALL ABOARD!!!!! MissyCheerio looks super cute here hehe.
SuperWilson’s emo traveller photo
When we arrived at KLIA we hopped to the restricted area to see how the baggages are being handled. UNDER TWO MINUTES I TELL YOU and off they went on the conveyor belt to the sorting area and onto the plane.

Since we will not be flying off anywhere (pffttt what a shame lol), we needed the special pass to actually get into the departure area of KLIA. The last time I had this privilege was when Ubir was flying off to New York using VIP passes until terminal C ;’)
Ok back to the present.
We saw a counter at the baggage collection place (right after the immigration counters) so that people can buy tickets upon arriving. Easy peasy!

KLIA Ekpress, Far Too Wicked!!!
Oh, and there’s a counter at Terminal C (international- satellite terminal) too!! You can sort your transport before even collecting you baggages! =)
