So last week, EvilTwinAmanda called me up out of a sudden and said "Guess what, I got us a preview of the Kate Moss Topshop collection" and I went like "uuuuuuuuuuuu do we get free clothes?". I swear there was an awkward silence there where I can imagine her face all damn expressionless. I'm sorry la, blogger rule number 345678865- be a freeloader. LOL just kidding.
So, on a Sabtuday (Saturday) morning I head on out from Shah Alam, thinking that I'll reach there just nicely in time. Who knew la kan Saturday morning also can jam like kandang kambing. Sigh, welcome to Kuala Lumpur!
In my mind, really, I thought it'll be a preview party where there'll be tons of people etc with loud music boom boom and all but I only heard the rock music blasting. I thought I was in the wrong mall. Little did I know that it was a private session, and WE GET TO TRY THE CLOTHES ON!
Mad awesome!
(photo taken using phone, hence the grainy quality):
Kate Moss Topshop's Summer 2010 collection is all about an array of chiffons, silks...all things flowy, soft, airy and very very bohemian. The range is actually inspired from the 20's to the 70's style... 0_o
That's a lonngggggg period to "ceduk" inspirations from, and with that, I assumed that the collection will cover just about anything!
Here are some of the promo posters for the Summer 2010 Collection:
And here, are my picks of pieces and dresses from the collection. I heard there's more though. Check out Topshop's site here
And this is the first time that Kate Moss' Topshop lingeries will be sold in Malaysia. Expect soft materials that oozes sex appeal. Non of those hardcore S&M pieces.
My journey started with getting caught in traffic, on which I managed to camwhore, but this didn't really show what I wore on that day.
Now this, is a much better photo that Amanda took for me, although the hat is not my own -_-"
Top: Raoul
Skirt: Cotton On
Cardigan: Zara
Bag: Zara
OK back to the collection!
So we were assisted by Henry, who is a visual merchandiser. So what does a visual merchandiser do? OMG they're job looks interesting. I don't mind 'visually merchandising' clothes every now and then! =D
Imagine the amount of "ooh"s and "aah"s from Amanda and I...If we actually calculated them, it might even beat the amount of "Imma be" is said in that darned Black Eyed Peas (which is about 106 apparently) -_-
okay, maybe I exaggerated that part, but really. In my head, I was not only admiring the clothes, but also scheming on how I can get them out of Topshop to Pavilion and into my car.
We get to pick on which items we would like to try on. Honestly, I was so tempted to say "ALL!" but I doubt they'll have the patience to actually layan a Topshop fangirl like me =(
On me: Cape Dress
On Amanda: Flame Bodycon Dress
Best part about it is the flowy cape. Made me feel like a part-time angel, and a part-time superwoman =P
You know how I swore against maxi dresses? Dad (my part-time stylist) always say that I'm too short for it (I'm only 5'3"). But this one, was like a super miracle. It fell on my body, without the 5-months pregnant effect, and was flowing with the right length!!!!
I took that as a sign from God......until I saw the price tag. (anyone care to belanja?) =P
On me: Diamante Ruched Dress
On Amanda: Tiered Ruffle Maxi
Now, I really like the combo of the next outfit. It is the Kate Moss staple. Very boho, very coachella-like.
Top: Square Lace Blouse
Shorts: Striped Lace Up Denim Hotpants
goes perfect with my ankle boots innit? The look kinda reminds me of Kate Hudson's style somehow
I've always wanted a playsuit, but never found one that fits me perfectly, until that day!
Playsuit: Open Pleat Back Playsuit
There's three things that I look for in an outfit:
1. Colour
2. Cut
3. Detailings
This playsuit is one of a kind. With the crocheted cut-outs as part of the design, it caught my eye instantly. Plus, I LOVE the colour. Definitely something I'd get for my wardrobe.
Did I mention that it's super comfortable like you-can-roll-in-bed-with-John-Mayer-while-he-sings-your-body-is-a-wonderland kind of comfy? =D
Well, the last outfit that I tried, was my fave.
I called it the midnight dress. It's actually the Sparkle Swing Dress.
I am a big fan of this kind of dresses, but never found any nice ones here in KL.
The detailing on the shoulders and the bottom hemline was intricate and beautiful!
Despite being fully sleeved, it was still very much airy and suits our Malaysian weather nicely. I wanted to steal this for the Sex and the City 2 premiere but then I'm not such a good schemer hahaha
Another fashion blogger, Jacinta, who happens to be Amanda's friend also dropped by and here are what she tried on:
Embellished Laced shoulder pad Dress
and also Sequin Embroidered Cape.
I hope I managed to give you guys a virtual tour of the collection. And hoping to get more next time. I don't mind looking at clothes ALL day long hahahha Henry, can I have your job? =P
Go on to these three Topshop outlets (Midvalley, Pavillion and KLCC) after 15th June 2010 to have a look for yourself. Who knows you might bring back one or two and lend to me hahaha kidding!
xx
