Review: Nightmare on Elm Street

I have been a fan of 'Nightmare on Elm Street' since I can remember, maybe when I was about 8 years of age, alongside with the movie 'Fly'.

That was the original trailer starring Johnny Depp *cue swooning girls NOW*

and I must say, that's a whole lotta blood coming from one person. Almost like a night at Zouk projectile puking contest  =P

The last time I remembered, Freddie still looked like a Sesame Street character that had bad skin.

The 2010 one was more advanced. He now looks like he has leprosy  -_-"
and wears Giordano.

Oh, on an unrelated note, I found these online while browsing and I'm not too sure whether I'd wanna walk around with 'blood stains' on my shoes haha

Freddie Kruger Nike's

As we all know already, Hollywood horrors are usually filled with gore, blood and a lot of "jumpy" scenes and this movie isn't an exception.Unlike the Asian ones that features long-haired, mechanically-moving dead woman, the ghosts in Hollywood can REALLY cut you in half. No joke  =P

And of course, somehow all the characters in the movie, that's somehow "queueing up in a line" on death's list will be related, and in this movie, the characters will find out that they have all met during their childhood, although none of them could remember anything. They believed that they've only met in junior high. So the mystery on how they are somehow interconnected will be revealed as the plot thickens and Freddie makes more appearances as the characters fall asleep one by one and be haunted/ murdered.

The best part about this movie is that it doesn't obviously show that the characters have fallen asleep but much more on that they have unconsciously so, creating a suspense among the audience. I think I've watched one too many horror shows to actually know when to prepare myself (means to cover my ears), but I really DID jump in a few scenes, I think I accidentally dug my nails into Zen's arm, and I don't think he was not enjoying every bit of it...pfft  -_-"   suka eh you!

It's really a no-brainer movie where you don't have to really figure out the mystery that lies underneath the whole revenge motive, so just leave all your worries at the door, and maybe your brain (if you're the type that prefers intellectually challenging movies) and enjoy the movie  =)
