Missione Oris Col Moschin Part IV

And you must have also been wondering what is this Oris watch that I was talking about and why does the launch event has to be super awesomely cool and mysterious unlike any other events that just invites you to a cocktail party where you just mingle with other celebrities, media and socialize, and look pretty. Well, I guess the effort on making this one a different one paid off and it stays true to its concept of being a hard-knock watch, tested by the members of the Col Moschin Italian Special Forces unit during their training missions.

 

The watch has accompanied these elite troops on 9000m parachute jumps in and sea dives in depths of more than 40m underwater. It has been tested inn every situation it proved equal to the challenge through all kinds of weather and terrains. Anti-magnetic properties ensures that it remains accurate during flights, 1000m water resistance makes it unbeatable in the water, and the sturdy titanium case with its tungsten top ring and crown protection system make it shock proof on land.

This watch is limited to only 2000 pieces worldwide, and this Oris Col Moschin Limited Edition is presented in a heavy duty waterproof case, with a replica Col Moschin badge and limited edition certificate, military style.

The case is made of lightweight titanium, coated with gunmetal grey DLC so it's non-shiny and helps the forces to stay camouflaged. The solid construction, the screwed case back as well as the screw down crown are the key elements that give the Oris Col Moschin Limited Edition its extreme water resistance of 100 bar/1000m. The anti-magnetic properties of all Oris watches make them highly resistant to electromagnetic fields. They conform to the international standards of ISO 764 and its equivalent DIN 8309.  The metal case of the watch acts like a cage and prevents the movement from being affected by these fields.

The tungsten top ring was chosen for three reasons:
-    Durability: the watch is used during missions
-    Ability to withstand extreme temperatures: vital as members of the regiment work in desert zones where it is very hot as well as extremely cold mountain areas.
-    Non-reflecting matt finish

The Rotation Safety System (RSS) developed and patented by Oris is an innovation first seen in 2009 on the Oris ProDiver Chronograph that makes this one of the safest divers’ watches there is.  Only when the top ring is lifted can the dive timer be set.  After setting it can be relocked to the case to prevent accidental adjustment.


The adjustable safety clasp allows the strap to be extended or shortened rapidly, without having to remove the watch from the wrist.  This also means the watch can be worn over a wetsuit, ski gloves, or a flight suit, without having to change straps.  The chunky rubber strap guarantees wearer comfort in every situation, is also anti-reflective and highly durable.
