Whatever there was in Singapore

A short produced by Point8cam, our short journey in Singapore. Although we had to part ways to do our own thing, I'm still amazed at how it looked like I was always around. Shot by him and I (very very minimal help, I was), and edited by him...

He was very very secretive with this piece, even with me. I mean, I've seen most of the footage we got, cause I was using his camera too, but I've never expected it to come out like that. I guess he didn't expect it to be like that too!

Hmmm at least there's someone who knows what I talk about when I talk about artsy things. So when the skateboarding scene came up, I was really expecting him to do something major about it...well, it turned out EPIC instead. Love the way the song syncs with the movements and when I asked him to film people walking in slow mo at the MRT underground, I guess it was put to good use. Loved the outcome. Every bit of it.

I really hope you will enjoy it as much as I did, cause although it was very brief and I was busy running to places, in and out and roughly had time to be spent with this kid except on the last day when I didn't have a flight back, I wouldn't change it for anything.

4 nights, a camera, lenses, a voice recorder, great company, good food, backpackers, 6 star hotel, random snacks, partying, skateboarding and ended up with a ton of footage. Learning and growing up to what i am today made me act, record amd piece this all up together this way. Never thought it'd look like this. I just thought i could make something out of my footage.

I left out a bit of content out (http://vimeo.com/16606776) which was at the Marina Bay Sands Skypark. Stunning view at the 57th floor watching over Singapore's skyline. This belonged somewhere in Day 04.

Just sharing my fun and i hope you guys enjoy it.

Marina Bay Sands - SGD7k Straits Suite

UPDATE: Hey guys, apparently I made a mistake. This SGD7k suite is actually the Straits suite. The Orchid suite costs SGD850 a night! Sorry for the confusion  ;)

From the moment I reached Marina Bay Sands earlier this month, my schedule was already been packed with activities hence why the Mr and I had to part our ways so he could do his own things too. After lunch, I managed to get stuff from the mall and have a little photo tour of my room in which I have written about here

I have to admit that I felt a little teeny weeny bit spoiled when I entered my room. I had it to my OWN freaking self woohoo! *selesai sudah lompat atas katil rasmi kan bilik* BUT trust me, that's like the standard room and I already felt like the president *perasan*

Let me bring you today, through my blog, on a journey to pure luxury which costs a person SGD7000 per night. Sorry to disappoint but the room does not include 'Happy Endings' but they do have a butler service to assist you in anything you need during your stay.

They have a separate private entrance near Tower 1, so that some of the patrons do not have to go through the hustle and bustle of the main lobby. Can you imagine if you're an international superstar and you'd want your privacy. Well, that's what the private entrance is for! You can just sneak into the hotel without having a throng of fans screaming and yelling, chasing after you. Phew! The headache  *berangan je lebih*

Well, when you pay more, of course, you get the best view of the bay. Unlike mine, where I got the view of the construction site of the unfinished projects around the area  T_T

I remember last time, when I saw those expensive loo fees in KLCC and The Gardens Midvalley, I've always wondered, "Since I pay so much, will there be someone to actually wash for me?"

Oh, in this case, yes. Not a person though! They give you an electronic toilet that opens up the lid on its own, so you don't have to touch it with your hands! How hygienic! I rike!

And trust me, I have major love for toilets like these. They even have option on how you'd like your ass to be cleansed! Pressure and position HAHAHAHAHAHA Sounds kinky hahahaha  ;)

Bath tubs were to die for! I can imagine just having a warm bubble bath mmmm

This was the second room or guest room for your family members, children, grandpa, grandma, entourage, or whoever you'd like to bring there.

this one? syok sendiri

ok moving along now!

Like I've said before, "You know your room is expensive when you have a baby Grand Piano in the living area"

I guess the RM4000 a night at Ritz-Carlton KL last time wasn't grand enough in their context that they didn't put a baby grand piano then T_T

Living area - complete with a Nespresso machine (and choices of bullets for it. So tempted to sneak one or two into my bag hehe)

Master bedroom - nothing spectacular

Except that it has a walk-in closet, a private office and a big-ass bathroom!!!!!

Mannn, if I were there ALONE I'd totally freak out  T_T

Well, every hotel suites would have the usual master bedroom, extra bedrooms, kitchen, office/library, living room, giant bathrooms BUT not every hotel suites would have these two next rooms. Now this, is the thing that sets it apart from the usual suites I've been in:

A massage bed!

A mini gym!

And a salon parlour!

Was that a killer or what?

*In MTV Cribs style*

"Now thanks readers, you've seen my house, you've watched the show. Now get the F*ck out!!!"

oh, that includes me? hmm   =(

This is the Samsung Galaxy Tab

So, if you've been around the blogging block, you might have noticed that Advertlets is giving out a Samsung Galaxy Tab. For those of you who have been living under the Apple rock, well, Samsung came out with a tablet. And for you tech geeks, I'm sure that if I explain the specs of the tab, everyone's gonna start pointing and laughing at me "oi, look! Bimbo trying to speak ze robot!"...

So I'll save the robot-talk to the pros and just show you how I'd find the tab to be useful (or the basic things it can do) to help you ease with your daily chores/rituals.

1. SIZE

the Galaxy Tab is much smaller in size compared to other tablets. It fits in your handbag like a book, but does not lack the "puasness" of a large screen. It is still adequately sized for you to view things on the browser and so on.

2. FILLS TIME

Well, if you're the reading kind of person, you can download books, magazines and newspaper on your Galaxy Tab and hit the public transportation. That does not only help you fill up time while going to or back from work, but at the same time it could be a reason for you to take the public (saves mother nature)! You can go online, play games, tweet, facebook, chat and many more while you're stuck somewhere.

3. YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HAVING LUNCH ALONE

Why? you can watch Youtube during lunch time! ................

ok fine. That makes you look anti-social but who cares! You can even go on a treadmill and watch a movie. Next thing you know, you'd be 10kgs lighter after a 2 hour run! (Just kidding!). On another note, this is not advisable but yes, you can bring it to your potty time instead of the usual newspaper  -_-"
(don't say that I taught you that)

4. No more driving around in circles and getting lost

It is equipped with a bloody GPS! and to add to that, the screen is much bigger and clearer than your normal GPS! If you're still lost then maybe you just need to fix your bearings la, that one, I cannot help you with  =P

5. IT'S AN ALL-IN-ONE GADGET

Unlike other tabs, the Galaxy Tab can be doubled as a phone and camera! Although it looks a bit odd, but why would you wanna bring a tablet, then a phone, then a camera. Samsung has combined all of it into one. Easy peasy!

Even if you forgot your phone but not your tab, you can just get a SIM card for it and make calls (use it as a 2nd phone for emergencies)

6. CATCH UP WITH THE LATEST NEWS

Don't be an ignorant fool. Do know what's going on around you. Oh, the Galaxy tab helps when you need to find answers, or if there's someone who's trying to con you or make you look stupid. You can search for info right on the spot.

7. WHY DOES IT ALWAYS RAIN ON ME?

Well, be ahead with the weather prediction app. Don't get caught in the rain!

8. FOR THE VAINPOTS

If you're a vainpot like me, you'd appreciate this. When the screen turns dark, it actually works well as a mirror  =D

ok the last point was pretty much useless but hey, the tab is nothing short of impressive, especially someone who's rarely impressed with gadgets like me!

Thing is, you can win it from Advertlets! All you need is a blog, and writing idea!

No, this is not a paid advertorial. I just figured that some of you don't know about it yet and who knows you might win it  =)

Carpe diem!   (seize the day)

Must Watch List : My picks on the best short clips

I've always enjoyed watching shorts, and that's how I started talking to Point8cam. We share the same love for art, and it's not the generic art that is mainstream. He knows that I don't conform to the norm. My taste is very much different, I crave for new things, new scenes, the unseen. Damn, I rhymed hahaha  =D

Music score also plays an important part in videos, as it sets up the mood. I'm a very choosy person when it comes to art. I will not be satisfied by just an ok one. It HAS to have the it factor that catches my eye instantly and the flow of the story must be brilliant. Well, to cut things short, here are my fave videos of all time, well at least so far.

1. Leave Me (3 minute contest winning version) from Daros Film

AmandaChoe showed me this one when were in uni one day and truth to be told, I loved it that I cried halfway. To me, it showed an eternal love of a husband towards his wife, if given the chance, he'd sacrifice the rest that he had to just be with her. Sounds cliche, but watch the twist at the end. Perfect ending for me. Storyline was brilliant

2. APRICOT - A Short Film by Ben Briand from Moonwalk Films

The story of Apricot touched me in a different way. When asked, "Do you remember your first kiss? Do you remember your first love?" it instantly brought me back down to memory lane. Although a vague one, I'm sure most of us will remember the first love ever, where beautiful has a totally different meaning.

3. Dear Japan (親愛なる日本) from Matthew Brown

Dear Japan, simply.just.makes.me.miss.every.bit.of.the.beauty.and.essence.of.traveling.

The scenes, the sound, the pace of the video was a perfect mixture of every single thing that I appreciate.

*buys flight ticket*

4. Wednesday - Short Film from Rob Sorrenti

If fate is your friend, fate will come back to you, even if he's been away for half your life. Who knows, one day, it will shake your hands again. This is a story about a boy and a girl, who was born on the same day, in the same hospital but led very different lives and circumstances which made them that way when they're adults.

5. "SNOW" - Megan + Narbeh's Sweden Thriller Concept from PACIFIC PICTURES

Wedding videos are usually very very cliche. Why not make one, with a storyline. I'm sure your guests would really be in for a surprise. Oh did I mention that, you do need good acting skills too!

6. Zerotohundred's Time To Attack: Sepang 2010 by Point8cam

Now, now. I didn't put this here just cause I know him. I do think this is one of his best work so far, and I liked the rain part. It was just purely beautiful. Watch it, then you'll know what I mean.

7. SIGNS by Patrick Hughes

What's not to love about this short. Everything that happens in love are about chances. Even personally, how I found love is by chance. Point8cam and I questioned, what if, he didn't miss his flight to Australia. Would we still be hanging out like this? What if I didn't ask him to join me for the screening? What if we didn't talk during one of the trips? There's so many what ifs. But I guess, if you take a leap at chance, chance will open its arms for you  =)

8. THE BEAT OF NEW YORK from tim hahne

Just like Dear Japan, these kind of videos makes me miss travelling. The sound, the people, the smell in the air, the cold, the hecticness. Everything is rolled into one big, juicy Sushi Roll. Messy but delicious.

9. Mankind is No Island by Jason van Genderen
(Winner of Tropfest NY 2008)

Fully shot with a cellphone camera, this short is nothing short of touching you in the sensitive spot. Hunger is an issue everywhere, but most of us are blinded by big lights in the city so bright that the dark corners remains dark and the stories of these men on the streets remains unlit. Watch it, and have a thought, what if you were one of them?

Simple, but gets the message across very very well.

9. Beyond Words by Armand de Saint-Salvy

This short was a wow for me. Not only that I like the quality of the picture. The storyline was also a good one. You can feel the sense of danger, especially after knowing that the girl is actually deaf. The sounds and visuals to emulate the deaf and the blind was brilliant! I felt the vulnerability of that particular person, even as an audience.

There you go, hope you enjoy the videos!

Xplay at the Shout! Awards 2010

The preparation for the Shout! Awards started a couple of days earlier for me, just cause I got news that I'd be walking the purple carpet. 'Gotta look good'! was the motto. I went to some designers who were willing to loan some dresses, beautiful ones! But it's sort of like abit OTT for Shout!, you see. So I settled for something simpler, and I think I liked what I got from De Gardens run by Sara Ayumi.

She has really nice, cutesy dresses and tops for every occasion, and it was also my first time at Taman Usahawan Kepong. Looked like it's gonna be the next Bangsar or Kota Damansara for the little little shops. More choices at more affordable prices!

Keeping this one for my next event!  =P

Trying hard to channel a 'Waldorf' but failed hahaha

I even followed Moe Nasrul to pick out his clothes, and unintentionally picked out a similar colour palette for him...Didn't realize that we'd match  -_-"

Love the shirts and bow ties from The Shirts Studio (next to Cotton On in One Utama)

I was really rushing on the day itself cause I had a casting in the morning, then some 'speedbumps' came up delaying us from reaching the venue in time.

Headed to Pudu where they Gold Goh Perfect Point sponsored my makeup and hair

They even did my hair and makeup for my recent photoshoot!

Point8cam all smileys!

I just wanted a simple bun to accentuate the frilled shoulder of the dress, hence the braided sides but the girl that did my makeup made a flower out of my bun. Creative!

Reached the backstage at Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil just in time for my purple carpet walk

Ushered into the limo with Moe and off we went to the front entrance

People must've went like "who the hell is this chick?"

Well, I'm a blogger! (ok, maybe that didn't justify why I was there in the first place)

ah well, we'll just let time do it's thing  ;)

Back to the backstage area waiting to be ushered into our seats. Managed to catch up with some people

The performances that night were good, especially Arabyrd's and the 8tv Showdown Crew, Iyaz's, and Mizz Nina's. Yuna's performance could've been better if it wasn't for the crew distracting people when moving the props. They could've been in costumes instead of the crew tee, which would make it more 'Lenka' like.

#Win was Zizan Raja Lawak's prize giving part, as his jokes were spot on, made us laugh, which was a brilliant way to mask the fact that he doesn't speak perfect english. Best way to deal with imperfections is not to fix it, but to embrace it...and of course, you'll improve as time goes by.

Best speech of the night by him was "Don't drink and drive, and beware of dog!" which was so random, made me laughed so hard. Super adorable, actually haha

I still did enjoy the night, although I needed breaks to actually move than just sitting on the chair due to my back problem but it all went well, minus the sound system glitches.

Met tons of interesting people including the ones below, Dior and Iz Sulaini.
