I'm usually (well usually) fearless cause to me, we only live once and we might as well live it to the fullest. But my fears have never been bigger than these three - failure, losing a loved one, falling sick or dying. I am scared to leave the people I care about behind - who is gonna take care of them when I'm gone?
People have always said prevention is better than cure, but what kind of prevention measures should we take? To what extent? and how early? What if it's already late? Well, better late than never to be honest. When Chris Tock contacted me via Facebook, asking if I want to join spread the awareness of getting check-ups I did not hesitate. Checked my schedule and went to Jaya One on the agreed date and time. We were to do a photoshoot, being splashed by paint with the tagline "Don't duck it". How cool was that?
I was drenched! From top to toe, the paint even seeped into my undergarments that I had to throw everything out after that (I lack denim shorts now hahaha) but I was satisfied with the outcome and I hope you guys would help spread the word around.

And the finalized photos are as shown below:
Well, what's the purpose of splashing me in paint? Okay so this campaign is Passionately You Cervical & Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, a voluntary collaboration between Assunta Hospital, Asia Assistance, Jaya One and PJ Live Arts to support awareness, detection & therapies in aid of the Community Treatment Program at Assunta Hospital.
So this Don't Duck It is a social media campaign with the purpose to spread the word through social media platforms - blog, facebook, twitter etc and we're hoping that this campaign will secure 6000 pledges from the public. They will also have a number of activities planned up until their finale on the 22nd October so stay tuned for that!
However, first step you can do would be:
1. Donate your profile picture on Twitter for 4 months by allowing our Twibbon to superimpose on yours with our campaign design. Don't worry, it's not obstrusive at all. They will automatically change your twitter profile photo into something like this:
and psst, it still looks cute!
2. Share about the Buy4Love event happening on the 20th August, where they are currently running a donation drive for the public to donate their unused items to be sold at the market in conjunction with Tongue In Chic's Chic POP Market.
3. Finally, pledge now so they can send you more information as and when it comes - don't worry there won't be spams or third party info leak! Oh and do book out your calendar to attend the finale event on 22nd October 2011 (which I will most probably be at!)
Ultimately, you can wait until the full website is up on http://dontduckit.com and you can join in the fun of having a paint splashed photo minus the mess. That's the whole point of the campaign, so you don't have to go through the mess of being sick etc!
Breast and Cervical cancer are two of the largest cause of death in women, don't be a statistic.

ReplyDeleteHanie this is a very awesome campaign. It really brings home the message of don't duck cervical and breast check ups if you don't want to mess up your life. Really apt. And I love the photoshoot. Sempoi!
ReplyDeleteYuyu: aww thanks babe =)
ReplyDeleteelle: hahahha dah lencun basah tak rasa style sangat la hahaha
emily: kan? I agreed to it instead of being glammed up for charity which defeats any purposes. Loved the shoot, until I had to go home going commando sebab habis semua basah HAHAH
