It felt almost like a rite of passage as fans from around the world anticipate, gather and watch together the closure to this installment that captured many hearts. I must say that it did not disappoint as I chucked the idea of re-reading the final book before watching the movie, as it might be such a bad idea to be criticizing it too much instead of just enjoying it as a fan. It was a brilliant move, as I have a faint memory of the details thus allowing the movie to swift me from scene to scene instead of going like "eh, it was different from the book". Well, we can't expect a perfect adaptation now, can we?
Yep, my belum sempat mandi face was in the papers for being the first to actually purchase the final book in Tesco Shah Alam (which was like a big hoo haa at that time) while my mum...well, she stole my thunder -_-"
Anyways, back to the movie. There were moments where it felt a little too draggy though, especially when it felt as if the character was going through a time-stand-still kind of moments and the fact that my knee cap injury wasn't helping much to give me a comfortable experience but it did not deter my spirit nor my concentration - cause I think I told point8cam to not kacau me so much lol ^.^
The movie starts a little slow though, where Harry was seen to have buried Dobby the house elf and was dealing his way into Gringotts to go through Lestrange's vaults to find a Horcrux. Well, the action starts as they manage to find the Horcruxes one by one and destroying them while Hogwarts was being governed by a new headmaster, the greasy Snape and yadda yadda Lord Voldermort was going after him (usual case). Thank goodness they kept the sappy love scenes to a minimal cause I wasn't interested in seeing the lovebirds snogging so much. I was up for the magical war scenes! However, I expected the duel between Harry and Voldermort to look more....epic. I was a little dissapointed though cause I felt like Disneyworld put me into a bigger awe with their fireworks display. Maybe it was the lack of 3D glasses? I don't know =I
At the end, it did not disappoint. It was indeed darker with more deaths and the journey through the Gringotts vaults was... damn, if only that was a real rollercoaster. I'd be up for it in a heartbeat! =D
There were parts where the crowd laughed hard at their jokes and even watched in silence as witches and wizards die to defend Harry, I loved the fact that I was thiiiissss close to tearing when the movie ended as I grew up with it, and it was one of the very few books I read religiously after I slowed down on reading fictional materials for so long. I even went out of the cinema telling point8cam, "What do I do now, it's already the end"... Drama queen, much? LOL
I won't spoil the movie for you lot, so it's better if you watch it yourself. Please pee before you enter the hall, the movie can be a bit draggy but I did not feel like I wanted to leave the cinema to even visit the loo. Thank you TGV Cinemas for letting me watch it before the public does, I feel a tad special he he =P
Please don't blame me if you don't enjoy the movie, it's not my fault that I'm such a fan and giving you a biased review. And too bad if it's not your cup of tea. Here's one of the trailers for this movie:
Thank you J.K Rowling, for putting a little magic in my years of school and college =')
