Bangkok Calling

Currently in Bangkok, Thailand. Soaking up the ambience, the food, the shopping, the lovely people accompanying us and the bullshit I got from delayed baggage which went all the way to Sydney that left me baggage-less for almost 2 days. However, the rest of the things I've seen and experienced makes up for it. Will be back soon, to more new adventures. Can't wait. Still a lot to do, see and try. I'm already pumped for another trip!

I foresee a big change in my wardrobe this time around, since this year my new resolution is a new look. Been shopping since December and buying things that are out of my box so we'll see what Bangkok has in store for me.  =)

roadtrip, anyone?

American Express Credit Card - Extra Rewards

You know how price of things are fluctuating non stop nowadays? It’s like I’m now paying double while my income still remains. I feel ripped off everytime I buy something, even paying for food. However, I wouldn’t mind if I gain extra things, even if its not in monetary terms. Let’s say, if I buy a pizza, and get another pizza. It’s a bonus, right?

What if I buy a Macbook, and I get a free iPod. Woah, it’s like double whammy.

But no, I wasn’t planning on buying a new laptop haha

I know Malaysians (that includes my family and I) are crazy over the point collection system. It’s like, we have almost every card that allows us to gather points to be redeemed with an item once it hits a certain amount. It’s insane that after spending so much on the credit card and only realizing the points you’ve collected at the end of the term can be exchanged into other goods!

Well, you know how it usually works – 1 point for every RM spent.

Deal’s here – what if I say that you can get 5 times that Membership Rewards point, for every RM spent?

1 point = RM1 vs 5 points = RM1.

The latter one confirm instant win lah!

Where and when do I spend to obtain these points? Well, when you buy groceries, pump petrol, buy movie tickets at Cathay Cineplexes, or even books at participating bookstores - Borders, Kinokuniya, MPH, Times. Oh, and the most common item being paid – phone bill! via Express AutoPay - Maxis, Celcom, DiGi, Telekom.

Basically, these are the things you usually spend on anyway so why not get rewarded for it? Right?

Well, the best part about using the American Express Gold Credit Card is that you can earn up to RM588 a year* if you spend an average of RM2950 a month (e.g RM300 on petrol, RM600 on groceries, RM150 on phone bill, RM150 on bookstores, RM100 on cinema and & RM1650 on others). And unlike any other cards, your points don't expire, so you can accumulate and redeem your rewards at your leisure instead of being forced to just get pots and pans just because your points are expiring tomorrow =P

(yes, mum tend to do that – pots and pans of all things)  -_-“

If you wanna calculate on how much savings you can get, please click this link here

Well, here’s the catch, if you’re not swiping the card at participating outlets, you’ll only get 2x the Membership Rewards points…..eh, wait! That’s still more than 1 point = RM1!

WIN!

Need I say more? Just get the American Express Gold Credit Card only lah. Settle! Kao Tim!

My first travel video : 3 countries, 10 days, 1 home

So what has been up with me lately? Nothing much except for settling stuff before my Bangkok trip, go for castings and also crashed my car. Yes, but let's save that emo post for another day, maybe before or after Bangkok. On another note, since I've no car now (I do, actually) but the parental unit refused to let me drive anymore, I'm basically stuck at home unless point8cam picks me up, I take public transportation which is fairly ridiculous here in my area, or the easiest way? I bribe my younger brother to drive me around with food, since he's also back from JB.

Thus, I've been entertaining myself with the TV Hub system, watching outdated movies, browsing the internet, and yesterday out of the blue, I decided to edit videos. Yes, yes I know point8cam is good at it, why not let him do it. I might just murder the footage haha but I like to try things on my own. I'm a self-taught person, always has been so this was like a challenge for me to not even google for tutorials. I guess that's how I learn best. By stumbling upon chance. Yesterday's teaser was so-so, but I was impressed and proud of myself to finally be productive HAHAHA I know I haven't finished full posts of my Europe Trip but here's a gist of what went on, on video mode  =)

Sorry if it's not that clear but I'm saving the HD version to myself hahaha

So this is my fully self-edited video, out of the blue with no tutorials no help cause I wanted to surprise point8cam haha and yeah I was cracking my head figuring things out lol, finished the first cut in two hours and the full one in another two hours and voila!

I am now excited for Bangkok. It's in 2 days and I'm wondering what I would come up with, since I know how to do this already. And please don't expect my videos to be similar to point8cam's. He's very much a pro already and our styles are completely different but I like how our styles balance out most of the time. Anyways, in case you're wondering. The shots were all fully taken by Panasonic Lumix GF-1.

Putting some lovin thoughts in my head

I think last week was the first time I met up with Ms Choester since she came back from Melbourne. We caught up on a lot of things, had a heart to heart session and I was so glad we did. I guess both of us have experienced the same thing when it came to climbing up the blogger ladder and trust me, when you get up really really fast, it does get to your head. We're actually lucky to have our anchors in our men, to bring us back down to the ground. We're both stubborn and quite outspoken, but it can get a little out of hand but I'm so glad we realized that the glitz of this industry isn't why we started writing our thoughts and recording our ordeals online for public viewing. It was the love for writing and sharing experiences that was the core.

I do miss those old days when I was so naive about being a blogger, where I just wrote whatever I wanted to. All I wanted to was for people to relate. I admit that with the increase in viewers, you tend to be more careful with what you write about and how you write it. Somehow you do feel limited, and you gotta learn to suppress and channel your emotions in a certain way. It's almost like people's expectations of you came in a mould or template that you just gotta follow even when you know you don't like it. I don't, however, regret my choices. It did me good and bad too. At least I know I grew out of it, and although I'd love to keep the amount of readership I have currently (and the money can be useful at tough times), I would prefer to be more engaging and entertaining rather than conforming to the norm in public expectations.

Anyways, gotta catch up with more people now that I'm more free and no longer working full-time. I'm currently structuring plans for my pet projects and I'm happy that my man is giving me advice and being very very supportive. I've never seen that much support coming from one person in my whole lifetime, and yes, I'm not being dramatic but it's the truth.

I love being a freelancer, you have time for mini dates. Although the money isn't constant but we work harder cause we know we gotta. Point8cam has been awesome, more than I expected. I like the moments we've spent together, even when building computers. Yes, computers. Geekin it out to the fullest! haha I've met my match! Someone who is just as random, but at the same time can be very grounded when I'm not  =P

We recorded ourselves having fun cleaning and building his PC. Watch it!

We surely can be geeks sometimes. The other week, we spent time at Toys R' Us, testing out all the new toys -_-"

You add the colour to my monotone life. You generate my creative juices by being my muse and at the same time inject logic and senses into me. You balance me out, you put the melody in my song, you paint the rainbow in my skies. You never say no, but you keep me grounded. You make me feel sky high but you pull me to the ground when I feel like I'm gonna lose myself out there. You pull me back in when someone pushes me out to the wild. You put my arms around me, spread your wings and protect me. What would I do without you, what more could I ask for than just to be happy with you? I may be the girl that you dreamt about, even before we were together, but you....you're the man I've been looking for all these while.

Oh, Puzzles says hi!

Still sorting out Picasa. I hate to embed stuff I just prefer to upload sigh -_-"

We be Laser Taggin

I haven't been seeing the bloggers for far too long since I came back from Switzerland and before that was during Zoukout in Singapore so when I got word that Advertlets was doing a Laser Tag outing I told Jason that if he didn't reserve my spot he's gonna get one non-dirty kind of spanking haha kidding! Well point8cam was to shoot the event so why not if I joined as well, right? And we all know that it's Barney Stinson's favourite game! haha Arrived at Midvalley about 10am-ish for him to scout the area to know what to shoot and all and we headed to the viewing deck to see other games. Damn, it looked like Ministry of Sound or Zouk in a glance  ;P

Laser Tag first started in 1986 (a year before I was born) by Worlds of Wonders. Using the laser 'gun', players can shoots sensors worn by other players on their suit to tag them. It's like playing the normal "kejar-kejar" or "tag, you're it" when you were little but with laser guns (did they use it during the AFF Suzuki game?lol). However, WOW ceased business and stopped production in 1988. However, ten years after, Tiger Electronics licensed the brand and began producing the equipment for laser tag. Now, laser tag is commonly played throughout United States and now it's here in Midvalley Megamall (just beside Celebrity Fitness):

Galactic Laser
T-012A, 3rd Floor, North Court, Mid Valley Megamall
Mid Valley City, Lingkaran Syed Putra
59200 Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia

Telephone: 03-2283 2999

Website: http://www.galacticlaser.com/web/index.php

If you like playing Left4dead, COD or Counter Strike, I'm sure you'll like this one..unless you're not keen on moving and running around the place. It does get pretty tiring for such a geeky game, but it's all good exercise nevertheless.

How does it work? Well, the computerized targeting device wielded by a player commonly emits a brief infrared beam which carries an identifying signal, and the target records the signal when they are hit by the beam.

The computer system provides score tracking as well as enforcing some rules of engagement - spawn periods like in Dota, scoring and upgrading to machine gun mode when you've shot 3 frags in a row without getting hit.

The bloggers were divided into 4 teams lead by me (Team Charlie), Josh (Team Alpha), Jason (Team Beta) and Melanie (Team Delta).

We played two types of games. First was a free shooting - means that all of us were to roam around and everyone's just your enemy and the second one was teams versus mode. On the individuals I was the 6th on the board and on the teams I was the 2nd...not bad eh? hahah *angkat bakul sendiri* P

Ignore my concentrating face  -_-"

Anyways, they don't just offer maps for the games but they also do have party packages in which you can have your birthday party, your child's birthday party or even your grandma's birthday party!!! hahah details for the package is here - PARTY PROMO

point8cam still had the biggest gun -_-"  (no, I didn't mean it THAT way you dirty minded chiggas you!)

Thanks Advertlets, I surely had fun!

If you're interested to try and play, rates are as follows -

I think we were quite pumped that day that most of us continued with two sets of bowling! Talk about being healthy lol

I can't believe I survived through healthy games cause I'd usually be the one sitting in front of the computer and clicks mouse and kill frags, you see  =P

xx
