God knows the last time I had some free time was when I went to Hong Kong. I've been working, even on weekends ever since I came back, with the massive expansion of the company and setting up a social media foundation from my side, as well as having a few shoots, events and campaigns on my plate. Luckily, I have an awesome team to keep me sane, where we work hard and play hard too. All that, however, took a toll on me physically and mentally. So I made it a point, since I'm pretty fragile as a person and always feels lethargic, to have a quick retreat over one weekend. Since I can't really go far due to the limited weekends I have, staying in town isn't such a bad idea after all. Hotel Maya, was such a pleasant surprise - with affordable spa packages up to the unexpected interior. If you're wondering which one is Hotel Maya, it's the one opposite Zouk Club KL. I've never actually went inside Hotel Maya and much to my surprise, it was the total opposite of the exterior.
How nice isn't it? That the moment I stepped into the room, I found a personalized card welcoming my stay. Now that's VVIP treatment!
The level of service in Hotel Maya is impeccable, with round the clock butler service and 5 pressing of clothing item upon arrival, perfect if you're on a business trip and gotta dash out within the next couple hours. Even if you've just landed in town, their butlers are prepared to serve you a cup of herbal tea to soothe your tired muscles along with a selection of sliced fruits in the comfort of your own room!
I thought my room was going to be the simple Studio Room, and to me, it was brilliantly perfect enough for a city retreat.
I received another surprise when I found out that I was upgraded to the Deluxe Suite that costs RM1300 a night. The photo below is a 360 degrees of what the room looks like, using a Casio Exilim ZR20 camera that has a Panorama Slide function:
The view from Level 22 was ace, especially when my window faced the KLCC Twin Towers while I have my snack stash from Levain. More photos from the Deluxe Suite:
Hotel Maya boasts for top notch customer personalization that they even have a pillow menu to go with that awesome comfortable bed:
- Feather Pillows - Firm support (on the bed which is 50% down feather and 50% duck feather)
- Non-allergic Pillows - Contour Pillow (Memotex) - available in the closet
- Bolster Pillow (foam or feather)
- Buckwheat Pillow (the pillow has been used for the relief of headaches, neck pain, low back pain, muscle tension, stress, sleeplessness, snoring, and for these reasons has been often referred to as the "Pillow of Miracles")
- Hollow Fill Pillow
The layout of the room was modern, yet it feels very homely. I was telling point8cam that I want a studio apartment in that size if we decide to get married cause I don't think we need to live in a landed property while we don't have kids and Hotel Maya was the perfect example of what I want.
Lovely bath products, especially the red sea bath salts, which I used for a relaxing hot bath the day after.
And this stool, caught my eyes instantly when I stepped into the shower area. At first I wondered what was it even for, until I ended up sitting on it under a hot rain shower. Yes, rain shower heads, ladies and gentleman. Something that everyone needs for their bathroom =P
As I explore the room, I couldn't help but to notice how majestic the Twin Towers looked, and to have such view, comes with a price, especially as properties now is on a permanent race to have that particular clear view.
How could a person stay in the hotel and not enjoy the view when there's a pantry complete with a coffee machine beside the side chairs. I turned them around, took out my favorite Mentaiko bun, made myself a hot cuppa, or two and just bask in the scenery of the cityscape.
Complimentary tea and coffee in the room and a minibar. I got a little bit jakun with the coffee machine, caused I've only been served once while shopping in Raoul Singapore but never had the chance to pop it in myself, until that day! I wanna get one, that's for sure, so I can haz my daily cappuccino sans the sachets! Sachets are so 2000 and late *flips hair* =P
Their working desk is pretty cool. I wonder if point8cam was there, he might even turn it into his editing suites, with two monitors and all. If not, it'll be a place where I'd be dumping all my tiny little things haha
Did I mention that other than the butler service, you could even have an in-house chef IN YOUR SUITE? Yep, Dinner is specially brought up to your suite, and their Chef will personally prepare and plate your meal. Your personal Chef is able to prepare sosaku or modern Japanese cuisine from Still Waters , or delectable Malay cuisine from Maya Brasserie. All you have to do is inform them three days in advanced. Why would you wanna be cooped up in the room, you say? Who wouldn't want to? They even have a DVD Menu for you to just laze and watch while the chef prepares your dinner during one of those nights in. How I wish I can have that EVERYDAYYYYY! Even being a tai tai can't beat this!
Ok fine, if you feel that you need to get out of the room, you could head over to their pool... a HYDROTHERAPY pool. It's located inside the building, same level as the Anggun Spa. You know what was the best part when I went for a dip? It was raining, and yes, I could still go for a swim. It was breezy and dark, but the water temperature ranges around 28-30 degrees so the warmth was just perfect for a dip.
If you don't fancy getting your whole body wet and sit in the jaccuzi jets, you can still dip your feet, yes just your feet in a special spot and the water jets will still massage your feet at the same time. Those two pipes in the photo below emits a pattern of stream where it puts pressure on your body parts, if you sit underneath. It was a bit too strong for me but I must say that sitting in that pool really got my blood stream flowing cause I was scratching myself after I got out of it. It is highly recommended that you go for a dip before your massage, so that your blood circulation would flow efficiently.
Just a tiny bit of narcissism, this was what I wore on day 1:
Scarf: Marni x H&M
Top: ASOS
Cardigan: ZARA
Jeans: Wrangler
And the daily things that adorns my wrist on a daily basis, from H&M, ZALORA, Hong Kong and Peru.
It was recommended that I check out the Sky Lounge at night for some free flow of coffee, tea and biscuits while facing the Twin Towers, fully lit up. It was pretty full when I went, so I skipped it but managed to get some photos and a biscuit or two before I left someplace else =P
Plus, I slept like a baby that night, probably due to the comfortable bed but I also found out that each room has an Air Sterilizer using Plasma Ion technology so all guests have access to clean, sterilized air thanks to their Medklinn Air Sterilizer. The sterilizer produces massive amounts of negative ions to remove airborne pollution, particles and odors, which explains why the room never felt stuffy, even after I fogged it up with the hot bath. The ions in the air sterilizer, furthermore destroys both harmful surface-bound and airborne micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses and moulds, leaving your room with clean and fresh air. Many users find the abundance of negative ions in the room, help them sleep more soundly.
Here's what I wore for day 2, top and skirt, both from ZALORA Malaysia while shoes were from Agape Boutique
If you're looking into having an event, meeting or wedding at Maya Hotel KL, they do have a special place for that. You can find out more here. Did you know that they even have a special suspended meeting room? I don't have a photo but you HAVE to go there to check it out yourself. You can even have video conference calls during your meeting, which is also part of the services that they provide.
And another cool thing about Hotel Maya? I love their parking bays. You can double park, smartly! How cool are those things? You can block people's cars, but they can move it without a hassle! Sorry, I was a bit jakun I had to post this up =P
I'll try to find time soon to blog about their food and spa! =D
