Missoni Loves Havaianas Spring 2012

It's a great thing now that high-end designers have started collaborations with high-street brands, coming up with affordable lines or collections that satisfy the hunger of fashionistas all over the globe. The only downside is that they are just like the highly coveted high-end goods - limited. But then again, if you look at it from the business perspective, where there are demands, there will be supply, although in a limited quantity, so that the balance for it to be demanded would be there all the time. If you have goods that are easily available and mass produced, that good will lose its specialty. People tend to go for things they cannot/hardly could get anyways. It's human nature to be an individualist, they want some things to be exclusive, so that they feel somewhat special wearing it. 

I know I'm not complaining with all these fashion collaborations increasing, we all have a chance to own a piece of better quality clothing with proper design judgement. Earlier last month, I was luckily invited to the Missoni Loves Havaianas Spring Capsule collection launch in M Store, The Gardens to attend the launching if this brand-new collaboration collection of Missoni and my favorite flip flop brand, Havaianas. 

Many people question me, why pay so much for a pair of flip flops. Let me tell you honestly, that one pair lasted me for years! I never lost grip even on slippery surfaces (unlike my previous flip flops where I slipped and fell in the rain, hurting my tailbone) , it does not expand, and it does not eat into your flesh. Mind you, I've walked miles while traveling in a pair of Havaianas more than any shoes I've had. Now that they've launched this limited edition collection, I knew that I had to get my hands on them, no matter the cost. 

True enough that they were more affordable than a pair of heels from high street labels, and I know I will wear them more than other shoes, so I purchased a pair anyways. Plus, these pairs were actually made from the leftovers rubbers of Havaianas' other designs, so it is an effort to be more environmental, reducing wastage and recycling them into something beautiful and very much wearable.

This second collaboration collection only has three designs, although I would very much prefer the previous collection with the classic Missoni zig zag patterns, they still did not fail to stand out in terms of color and print.

Bought them just in time for the beach cause it's not everyday that you could afford a piece of Missoni.
