About Hanie Hidayah

"I'm indecisive, confused and easily irritated. i complain, i fart, i eat a lot and i also laugh and cry. I fall in love, have fun and go wild, but i still stay grounded. In short, i'm just another girl living in a city trying to make the best out of my life although i stumble and fall flat on my face...I'm just like you, a daughter, a friend, a lover and most importantly i'm all myself, personality wise. So,can YOU relate?"

It's weird to be typing about myself but I guess this is the best time for me to bore my readers with my life history bahahah!

ON GROWING UP

Well, as a kid, I was one of those mischievous ones. You know, those that looks innocent but surely has some hidden agendas in my tiny little head. I was the precious first-born that everyone loved, just cause I was a little overweight and had small eyes and it made me look like a pokemon -_-"

see what I mean?
As far as I can remember, I've always been in love with music. As a kid, I'd come home from school and jumped onto the stool of my mum's abandoned organ just to create some notes, and I'd be satisfied the whole day. I even marked the keys with a permanent marker when I was 6 so I could learn the notes easily, and when I was scared at the thought of my mum going ballistic over it, I actually went and took a knife from the kitchen to scrape the marks off...damn FAIL! the marks are still there until now  -_-"

I've only started singing and dancing when I entered kindergarten, and I LOVED being the center of attention (in a good way) whenever the school had concerts or functions. I enjoyed seeing the look on my parents' faces when I completed a routine or something and I know they were damn proud of me. Well, at least there was a point in time that they were actually really proud of me  =)

I didn't grow up gracefully though. Let's just say I was one of those awkward geeks that never found her place although I did meet a lot of nice and friendly people. I never felt as if i fitted in any of the highschool cliques. Fast forward from there, I grew up, blossomed a little, learned lots of things that evolved into my life's principles.

ON TRAVELLING

I'm lucky enough to have parents that loves to travel and being the first born, I can pretty much say that they've brought me around the world more compared to my other siblings (just cause I'm older heheh). My dad has this weird principles where I can't go back home late at night in KL, but I can go travel on my own anytime I want to. I guess it's a trade and some things I gotta sacrifice to have another. My aim now is to visit the World Wonders first, before going off somewhere more luxurious. Oh, and I'm not a fussy traveller. I don't go on luxurious trips like people think I do all the time. I've stayed in RM20 huts with no electricity and public shower without a proper toilet to name a few. I've stayed in a dodgy haunted place ones and I'm definitely up for backpacking anytime!

I've been to Australia, UK, US, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, Egypt etc to name a few. Visit my traveling posts after you're done with this!

My next target of places to go to:
  • Santorini Island, Greece
  • Bora Bora Island
  • Rio de Janeiro, to see Christ the Redeemer
  • Terracota Army and Forbidden City, China
  • Uluru Rock, Australia
  • Borobudur Temple, Jogja

ON PHOTOGRAPHY

I love photography, not to make money or become famous, but it's cause I want people to see beauty as how I see it. I started off with a really dodgy camera, but I liked the results, and I've used a Nikon D40x with three different lenses (which only works manual focusing so I had to train myself with that).  And I've currently upgraded to a Lumix GF-1 for with a 20mm pancake lens and a Canon 60D. I have a Fujifilm Instax mini 7s, but I want a Lomo or film camera, and the Wide Polaroid camera. I'm satisfied with the pictures I've got so far, especially when I travel. I haven't done conceptual in a very long time, but I might do so again. I can't shoot portraits, no matter how hard I try. Oh and I don't use Photoshop at all! the last time I did was about 3 years ago and somehow it can't be installed in my laptop thus, I won't be having heavily made up photos that deceives my readers lol

ON BLOGGING

My blog only started as a daily rant, of nonsensical things that just popped up in my head. For me to have a diary on my own, but after reading countless of blogs, trying out different styles, I am now contented with how I write. The way I write is the same as how I speak in real life. I'm very lucky now to have loyal readers who enjoy reading what I write, as my aim is to give them a sneak peek of being in my shoes, as they grow with me, virtually.

I can say that I'm liking the privileges that comes with being a blogger. All the parties, premiums, experiences are worth the time spent. I will not be as beautiful, voluptuous or scandalous as other female Malaysian bloggers, but give my blog a few reads before deciding that it's not your cup of tea.

If you're looking for a super hot and sexy babe posing beside a car, raunching it in lingeries or costumes, you came to the wrong place. You won't see heavily made up face (unless I have a photoshoot which sometimes I share on the blog) or heavily photoshopped photos (just cause I don't have one installed in my laptop). I believe in letting people see the real me, hence the bare-faced photos, all oily and sweaty cause really, I don't care much if you wanna say I'm ugly but at least I'm not plastic.

ON THINGS TO DO BEFORE I DIE
If you ask me to list down things I'd wanna do before I die, it'll be endless. To be honest I'm not a girly girl. I like to be challenged and I will try to conquer my fears (except for snakes, geckos and all things slimy. I'm not scared of roached and rats though). Few things I do/did that I can mark off the list:

- Fire Twirling - I bought the fire fans with the help of a friend and I'm hooked (must get back to practice in July)
- Went on a super fast bike in Phuket (at 4a.m. in the morning)

Well that's just to name a few. In the long-run, these are the thing that I'd want to do, at least half, before I die.

  • Jump off the cliff into the bottom of the Angels falls, Africa.
  • Go on a safari trip.
  • Hike to Macchu Picchu
  • Dive in a cage surrounded by Great White Sharks 50 times my size in South Africa
  • See the blue whale
  • Go to the north pole to see more whales
  • Go on a yacht cruise for 3 months straight
  • Hike in Nepal, at the base of Everest
  • Sky Diving, Johor

ON MEN

I may look high-maintenance, but trust me, I'm not. I won't ask guys to pay for me, unless if I'm really down to RM2 to eat hahaha and I definitely don't ask them to pay for my shopping or buy me a gift. If they do, its sweet of them but if they don't it's no biggie. All the clothes I wear, the designer bags I carry are sponsored by my dad (not a sugar dad pls and thank you) and some from my own money. So don't go around saying I'm a spoiled bitch that goes for rich guys etc. I do not depend on a guy to sponsor me top to toe. I DON'T CARE IF HE DRIVES A KANCIL, I'd still go on it! I still buy cheap stuff, bundles etc so I'm definitely NOT high-maintenance.
